Yngve Lundell
Yngve Lundell (1931–2015) was a Malmö-born sculptor known for his humorous, dynamic bronze figures. Self-taught in many disciplines — from furniture design to dramatics — he brought a playful, satirical eye to public art. His subjects included circus performers, musical ensembles, and ballet dancers, all rendered in exaggerated, angular forms full of movement. His most celebrated work, Optimistorkestern on Södergatan, became Malmö's most photographed sculpture. He once said, "I fight every day to keep my child's eyes." His work is held in collections across Sweden, including Malmö Museum and Landskrona Museum.
