Tony Oursler

Tony Oursler (born 1957, New York) is an American multimedia artist known for pioneering the use of video projection in sculpture. His Talking Lights series in the 1990s — expressive faces projected onto small fabric forms — brought him international recognition. The Influence Machine (2000), projecting onto trees and smoke in public spaces in New York and London, cemented his reputation. Based in New York City, Oursler's work draws from the history of magic lanterns, camera obscura, and digital media, exploring how technology shapes human perception and communication.
