Tom Moran
Tom Moran is a welder, fabricator, and self-taught sculptor based in Onaway, Michigan. He founded Moran Iron Works in 1978 and has created monumental welded steel sculptures since 1989, debuting a new piece each year for Onaway's Fourth of July parade. His works — including giant presidential heads, a 32-foot sturgeon, and a 70-foot aircraft carrier — are scattered across Northern Michigan. In 2015, his wife Marilyn helped establish Awakon Park in Onaway to permanently display his creations. Tom also teaches ornamental welding through the Industrial Arts Institute.
