Susan Dinkelacker

Susan Dinkelacker is a New Zealand-based wood carver and sculptor who grew up in South Africa in a family of glider pilots. After sailing across the Atlantic to South America, the Caribbean, and the USA, she settled in Northland, New Zealand in 2007. Also an experienced helicopter pilot flying emergency medical services since 2001, Dinkelacker began sculpting with hand chisels to pass time on rescue standby. Her highly tactile sculptures of birds, magical creatures, and people are displayed at Gallery Helena Bay and the Whangarei Quarry Gardens.
