Stefanie Rocknak
Stefanie Rocknak is a sculptor and philosophy professor at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. Known primarily for her detailed figurative woodcarvings, she won a national competition in 2012 — beating 265 artists from 42 states and 13 countries — to create Poe Returning to Boston, her first major bronze work. She holds a PhD in philosophy from Boston University. Her sculptures explore movement and exaggerated expression, whether carved in wood or cast in bronze. She is currently working on a Herman Melville statue for New Bedford, Massachusetts.
