Peyton Scott Russell
Peyton Scott Russell, known as Daskarone, is a Minneapolis-based graffiti artist and arts educator who became the city's first graffiti artist in 1984, inspired by the documentary Style Wars. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Russell founded Juxtaposition Arts and SPRAYFiNGER, dedicated to teaching graffiti as fine art. His work spans murals, sculptures, paintings, and screen prints, including the globally recognized George Floyd portrait at George Floyd Square. A Bush Foundation Fellow, Russell has spent four decades weaving graffiti aesthetics into contemporary art practice.
