Mia Tavonatti

Mia Tavonatti is an award-winning painter and glass mosaic artist with over 35 years of professional experience. She earned her BFA and MFA from California State University Long Beach and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and Parsons School of Design. Her stained glass mosaic Crucifixion won the Grand Prize at ArtPrize 2011, the world's largest art competition. Through her Svelata Foundation, she created the Power of Words Project, uniting established and aspiring artists to paint community murals across Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Her work spans public, private, and corporate collections worldwide, and she teaches at Laguna College of Art + Design.
