M.E.T.A.L. (Mural Environmentalists Together in Art Labor)

M.E.T.A.L. was an artist collective formed in 1984 to create the ILWU Memorial in San Francisco. The ten-member team included muralists Ray Patlán, Miranda Bergman, Eduardo Pineda, Horace Washington, Tim Drescher, Nicole Emanuel, Lari Kilolani, James Morgan, James Prigoff, and O'Brien Thiele. Rooted in the community mural movement, the group brought together diverse artistic voices to create monumental public works honoring labor history.
