Lynn Chadwick
Lynn Chadwick (1914–2003) was a British sculptor who came to art through architecture, first working as a draughtsman before turning to sculpture. He won the International Prize for Sculpture at the 1956 Venice Biennale, beating Alberto Giacometti. Known for his distinctive method of welding steel armatures and building forms outward, Chadwick created work that balanced geometric precision with powerful physical presence. He was awarded a CBE in 1964 and spent his final decades working from his estate at Lypiatt Park in Gloucestershire.
