Laura Kimpton
Laura Kimpton is a San Francisco Bay Area artist known for her monumental word sculptures that have become icons of Burning Man since 2009. Daughter of boutique hotel pioneer Bill Kimpton, she channels her dyslexia and her father's passing into powerful large-scale works exploring the weight and freedom of language. Her sculptures—including BELIEVE, LOVE, DREAM, and EGO—feature hundreds of laser-cut birds, a motif inspired by birds she saw outside her father's window. Her work has earned six Burning Man Honorarium Grants and permanent installations across the U.S. and China.
