Kurt Laurenz Metzler

Kurt Laurenz Metzler (1941–2024) was a Swiss sculptor celebrated for his vibrant, larger-than-life figurative works. After earning his sculptor's diploma from the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts in 1963, he spent a formative year in New York before developing his signature style — boldly colored figures in fiberglass, polyester, and bronze that capture the energy of everyday urban life. His best-known series include Motormenschen, Grossstadtneurotiker, and Urban People. His sculptures enliven public spaces across Zurich, New York, Singapore, and cities throughout Italy, where he established an open-air sculpture park in Tuscany housing over fifty works.
