John Randall Nelson (b. 1956) is an American painter and sculptor based in Tempe, Arizona. Born in Princeton, Illinois, he earned his BA and MFA from Arizona State University. Inspired by American Outsider Art, Nelson creates a personal visual folklore, filling his collage paintings and large-scale sculptures with playful figures, dancing jackrabbits, and archetypal symbols. His work is held in collections including Apple, the Phoenix Art Museum, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
