Jean Arp

Jean (Hans) Arp (1886–1966) was a German-French sculptor, painter, and poet who co-founded the Dada movement in Zurich in 1916. Born in Strasbourg, he studied in Paris and Munich before becoming one of the most influential abstract artists of the twentieth century. Known for his sensuous biomorphic sculptures in bronze and marble, Arp won the Grand Prize for Sculpture at the 1954 Venice Biennale. His organic forms influenced generations of sculptors, from Henry Moore to Isamu Noguchi.
