James Turrell
James Turrell is an American artist known internationally as a sculptor of light. He studied perceptual psychology at Pomona College before earning his MFA from Claremont Graduate School in California. Since the 1960s, Turrell has created immersive installations using natural and artificial light to transform how we see. His Skyspaces — architectural chambers open to the sky — can be found worldwide. His most ambitious project, Roden Crater in the Arizona desert, has been in progress for over four decades. He lives and works in Flagstaff, Arizona.
