Jack Dowd

Jack Dowd is a contemporary social realist sculptor born in Queens, New York in 1938. After studying at Adelphi College and serving in the Marines, he taught art before relocating to Florida in 1982. Known for his life-size figures rendered in bronze, resin, and basswood, Dowd uses real people as models and incorporates actual props to blur the line between art and life. His work has been exhibited at the Ringling Museum, Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, and dozens of institutions nationwide.
