Haig Patigian

Haig Patigian (1876–1950) was an Armenian-born sculptor who became one of San Francisco's most prolific public artists. Born in Van, Ottoman Empire, his family fled persecution and settled in California in the 1890s. Largely self-taught, Patigian created monuments across the city, including statues of Abraham Lincoln and General Pershing. His statue of Thomas Starr King represented California in the U.S. Capitol for nearly 80 years. He served two terms as president of the Bohemian Club.
