Gary Greff is a self-taught sculptor from Regent, North Dakota, who traded a career as a junior high school principal for a welding torch. Returning home in 1989 to help his aging parents, he found his town fading and decided to act — building the Enchanted Highway, a 32-mile gallery of the world's largest scrap metal sculptures. Local ranchers taught him to weld, and together they turned oil tanks and junkyard metal into roadside landmarks. His Geese in Flight holds a Guinness World Record. He also runs the Enchanted Castle, a medieval-themed hotel in a converted schoolhouse.
