Fernando Botero
Fernando Botero (1932–2023) was a Colombian painter and sculptor born in Medellín. Self-taught, he developed his signature style — "Boterismo" — characterized by exaggerated, voluptuous forms that redefined beauty in contemporary art. Inspired by Renaissance masters, Colombian folk art, and Diego Rivera, Botero created instantly recognizable works spanning painting, drawing, and monumental bronze sculpture. His public sculptures grace cities worldwide. He died in Monaco at age 91, leaving behind one of the most celebrated bodies of work in Latin American art.
