Wonder Wander
Ed Mell (1942–2024) was a Phoenix-born painter and sculptor known for transforming the Southwest landscape into bold, geometric visions. After studying at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles and working in New York advertising and illustration, two summers teaching on the Hopi reservation drew him home to Arizona for good. His angular landscapes and bronzes appear in collections at Phoenix Art Museum, Tucson Museum of Art, and the Forbes Collection. His painting of Cathedral Rock became a U.S. postage stamp in 2012.
