David Manzanares is an indigenous Chinanteco artist from Oaxaca, Mexico, now based in Omaha, Nebraska. For over fifteen years he has created figurative sculptures and large-scale murals rooted in themes of identity, migration, and indigenous cosmovision. His community-centered practice brings him into direct collaboration with immigrant and refugee families, weaving their stories into public art. He serves as Artist in Residence at Nebraska Innovation Studio and draws deep inspiration from pre-Hispanic artistic traditions and the textile artistry of his grandmother.
