Claes Oldenburg
Claes Oldenburg (1929–2022) was a Swedish-born American sculptor who transformed everyday objects into monumental public artworks. Known for playful, larger-than-life sculptures including Spoonbridge and Cherry in Minneapolis and Shuttlecocks in Kansas City, Oldenburg challenged viewers to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Beginning in 1976, he collaborated with Coosje van Bruggen, and together they created over thirty large-scale sculptures installed worldwide.
