Carl Vanderheyden
Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1958, Carl Vanderheyden discovered his calling in 2004 when he bought his first welder and fell in love with joining steel. Mentored by local artist Miles Amorelli, he developed a practice of transforming recycled steel and found objects into large-scale lifelike sculptures. His public artworks grace Manitowoc's Mariners Trail, the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, and downtown Green Bay. His work captures wildlife and imagination with industrial grit.
