Bruce White (1933–2025) was an American sculptor known for monumental abstract works in stainless steel and aluminum. Educated at the University of Maryland and Columbia University, he taught for thirty years at Northern Illinois University, earning a Distinguished Research Professorship. His public sculptures span the country — from the 48-foot Fire Monument on Jacksonville's Riverwalk to the 30-foot Izar at Newport News airport. White's process began with flat metal sheets that he bent, twisted, and welded into dynamic three-dimensional forms, inspired by Japanese minimalism and the irregular patterns found in nature.
