Brett Whitacre

Brett Whitacre is a self-taught American artist and muralist based in Northern Illinois. After relocating to Chicago in 2001, he began creating pop art on found objects—old windows, salvaged wood, discarded televisions—using spray paint and stenciling. From 2005 to 2016, he toured as drummer for the rockabilly band Legendary Shack Shakers, performing 220+ shows a year across the US, Canada, and Europe. That restless energy now fuels a prolific mural practice, with vibrant, color-saturated works brightening walls from Rockford to Northfield, Minnesota. His style draws on vintage advertising, 1970s color palettes, and an unmistakable sense of whimsy.
