Bradford Graves

Bradford Graves (1939–1998) was an American sculptor who worked almost exclusively in limestone, creating forms that feel both ancient and thoroughly modern. Born in Dallas, Texas, he moved to New York City in 1958 and studied at the School of Visual Arts and the New School, where sculptor Seymour Lipton became his greatest influence. He taught at Parsons School of Design and Fairleigh Dickinson University. His work drew deeply from archaeology, geology, and his extensive travels across Greece, Africa, Japan, and the American Southwest. The Bradford Graves Sculpture Park in Kerhonkson, New York, preserves over 200 of his works.
