Ali Hval is a visual artist and muralist based in Iowa City, Iowa, where she serves as Assistant Professor of Instruction in Painting and Drawing at the University of Iowa. Born in Sacramento, California, she earned her BFA from the University of Alabama and her MFA with honors from the University of Iowa. Her interdisciplinary practice spans painting, ceramics, fabric, and installation, often exploring identity through hyper-feminine aesthetics. With more than 50 public murals completed across the United States, Hval is a recipient of the 2024 Iowa Artist Fellowship.
