Richard Hunt
Richard Hunt (1935–2023) was one of America’s most prolific sculptors, with more than 160 public commissions across 24 states. A Chicago native, he became the first African American sculptor to have a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in 1971. His welded metal sculptures are held in over 130 museums worldwide, including MoMA, the Met, and the Art Institute of Chicago. He contributed steel sculpture designs for Basshenge’s bass forms and structural elements.
