Matthew Owens

Matthew Owens is a Chicago-based puppeteer, sculptor, and performance artist known for designing puppets for Tim Robbins’ film "Cradle Will Rock" and the world premiere of "Amistad" at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. His diverse practice spans theater, zoo animal enrichment design, and visual art. For Basshenge, he created designs including models for the Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Virtues motifs that appear on the connecting lintels between the bass sculptures.
