Doris Salcedo
Doris Salcedo (born 1958, Bogotá, Colombia) is a sculptor whose work addresses political violence, grief, and displacement. She studied at Universidad de Bogotá Jorge Tadeo Lozano and received her MFA from New York University in 1984. Based in Bogotá, her major works include Shibboleth at Tate Modern, and her 1,550 chairs installation at the Istanbul Biennial. She received the Nomura Art Award in 2019.
